KsTU Hosts Max Planck Society Delegation to Explore Research Collaboration
Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has hosted a delegation from the Max Planck Society (MPG), Germany, to explore opportunities for research collaboration and academic exchange.
The delegation was led by Tobias Bonhoeffer and included Michaela Hergersberg. They were received at the Council Chamber by the Vice-Chancellor of KsTU, Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh, together with members of the University’s senior management, deans, and selected faculty members.

The meeting formed part of ongoing efforts by the University to strengthen international partnerships and expand opportunities for research collaboration. During the engagement, the Max Planck delegation delivered a presentation on the mission, guiding principles, and global research activities of the Max Planck Society, one of the world’s leading research organisations.
The presentation also highlighted the Max Planck Africa Initiative, which aims to deepen collaboration with African universities and research institutions through joint research, knowledge exchange, and capacity development.
Discussions during the meeting focused on potential areas of collaboration between the two institutions. The engagement provided an opportunity for researchers at KsTU to explore partnerships with various Max Planck institutes and to learn about avenues for international research cooperation.
Participants also discussed opportunities for academic mobility, including prospects for students and researchers to engage in exchange programmes and collaborative research activities within the Max Planck research network.
The interaction concluded with a focused discussion session, during which faculty members and researchers shared ideas on possible collaboration areas and future engagements between the two institutions.
The visit highlights KsTU’s commitment to fostering global academic partnerships and strengthening its research capacity through collaboration with leading international institutions.
